HOW MUCH DOES IT COST FOR A CUSTOM MURAL?
Typically my base rate minimum is $3500 and I charge between $250 - $300 per square meter for larger spaces. Factors such as design intricacy and complexity, surface material and condition, travel, materials, labour and machinery access costs will also affect pricing as each job will have its own unique set of circumstances. DO YOU TRAVEL FOR MURAL WORK?
Yes! Currently I travel all over Australia to complete mural projects. Call out fees and rates of travel will apply for any jobs outside of a 30km radius, with every km travelled to access your job site over that threshold being charged at $1. For jobs further away, flights and accommodation costs will be discussed prior to commencing.
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR A MURAL DESIGN?
Once I've consulted with you, heard your design brief and understood your vision - I will put together an initial design concept, proposal and quote specifically tailored to your needs. This will incur a design fee of $300 with any 2 reasonable changes included here, and any additional new concept design being $200.
Artwork that is very detailed or on a smaller scale can often require smaller brushes and increased hours, in this instance projects will be quoted as large scale canvas artworks. Designs that require font or logos to be incorporated will also require higher levels of precision and therefore incur extra signwriting related fees.
HOW LONG WILL A MURAL LAST?
Murals can last anywhere from 5 - 10 years depending on factors such as wear and tear of high traffic areas, vandalism and weather exposure. I paint every mural with the best high-quality painting supplies possible. The type of paints, brushes, and additional materials required for your specific mural project are factored into the pricing and I always choose materials that are vibrant and long-lasting under our Australian sun and weather conditions.
WHAT KINDS OF SURFACES CAN BE PAINTED?
The good news is pretty much any surface can be transformed with mural art!
However exterior walls with raw surfaces such as, brick, metal, concrete or wood will require prior cleaning and priming preparation to ensure longevity of the mural art and colour fastness of the paint. Exposure to the elements and condition of your wall will also be taken into account with any cracks, flaking paint or plaster needing to be patched and repaired prior to the job commencing.
Round or curved surfaces will also require extra design and execution considerations - and all these factors will be taken into account when quoting your individual project.
ARE YOU AVAILABLE FOR COMMISSION WORK?
I do occasionally take on commission work yes, in both the form of illustration, digital and traditional canvas art. I also do custom print orders and brand collaborations too! However I will only do this if I really feel the project is aligned with my aesthetic and I can do justice to the overall vision.
